The Cumberland County Jail renovation project includes the construction of a new, state-of-the-art medical wing designed to enhance healthcare services for individuals in custody while supporting staff efficiency and safety. Funded through federal pandemic recovery resources, the nearly $10 million upgrade significantly expands the jail’s on-site medical capabilities.
The new medical wing features six negative-pressure isolation rooms—each equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet—to help prevent cross-contamination and improve infection control. The space also includes a dedicated exam room, staff offices, an on-site pharmacy, and an expanded dental suite, replacing previously undersized and inadequate facilities.
