A 4,600-square-foot renovation on the second floor of Jenness Hall will create two advanced research laboratories for the University of Maine.
The new 2,568-square-foot PFAS Laboratory will support the university’s nationally recognized efforts to detect and analyze per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as “forever chemicals.” The space will include four fume hoods, lab benches, a gowning anteroom, storage, and a technology-equipped conference room. The 2,060-square-foot Catalysis Laboratory will advance research into renewable, biobased chemicals and biofuels derived from biomass. It will feature eight fume hoods and specialized workstations organized into three zones: reactor, storage, and analytical.
