The new 112,000-SF mass-timber structure will consist of six connected structures, each three or four stories, offering four-, five-, and six-person suites that will feature single-occupancy bedrooms with shared bathrooms, living spaces, and kitchenettes.
A unique aspect of the residence hall is a new cafe open to the campus community, serving made-to-order breakfasts and lunches, as well as baked goods, coffee, and other drinks by day, with a separate menu in the evening. Additionally, the building will include a student-dedicated space for various uses, as well as a basement with storage, laundry, and building services.
The structure will be built using mass timber, supported by glulam columns and cross-laminated timber decking, and will feature double-pitched roofs. Exterior features include sandstone brick, natural wood, and ample glazing. Mayflower Hill Residence Hall will be located along the Runnals Walk near Cotter Union.
