A renovation of the former Hostess brands bakery converted the vacant industrial building into FedEx’s new distribution center in Biddeford.
The renovation updated 15,000 square of administrative space including offices, conference rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms/locker room. The 215,000-SF warehouse space required extensive renovations including major demolition of 30’ CMU walls and concrete floor pads. Two drive-in ramps were added for truck access. A new security system with video surveillance was installed with a secure area that allows for customer package pick-ups. The new space also includes a separate area for handling hazardous materials. New mechanical systems were installed in the warehouse space as well as LED lighting throughout.
